Urging citizens to celebrate “Green Diwali”, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday said when a Sanatani government comes to power, the festival of lights’ grandeur and divinity are unique.
“The Delhi government’s GST credit, firecracker permits, preparations for Chhath at the Chhath Ghat, and event management for the youth. These are all festivals that Delhi has missed for years. But not anymore. Now, Delhi will live freely, celebrate its festivals with joy, and express its happiness,” Gupta said while addressing a gathering at Delhi BJP’s annual Diwali Milan celebration which was held at the new state office on Deendayal Upadhyay Marg.

“Delhi’s Diwali is the Diwali of the nation’s capital, and it should be celebrated, seen, and felt. When a Sanatani government comes to power, its grandeur and divinity are unique. Today, everyone in Delhi, regardless of age, gender, or social status, is happy. They celebrate Diwali because of PM Modi’s GST savings,” CM Rekha Gupta said.
Gupta said that if Diwali is celebrated in Delhi, then it becomes the festival of the nation’s capital.
Expressing gratitude to the Supreme Court for granting permission for the use of green firecrackers in the city on Diwali following the state government’s special request, the Delhi Chief Minister said the apex court’s decision has brought happiness back to homes while opening a new chapter of environmental awareness.
“Together, let’s make this Diwali green and glorious. It’s not just a festival, but a symbol of our cultural consciousness and responsibility,” the Delhi Chief Minister said.
The apex court on Wednesday allowed the use of green firecrackers for the Diwali festival.
However, the permission is subject to certain restrictions with regard to the days and timings of use and their sale. The court has permitted the sale of certified green firecrackers between October 18 and 20, specifying that their bursting will only be allowed between 6 am and 7 am, and 8 pm and 10 pm, on Diwali eve and Diwali day.
Addressing the gathering at Delhi BJP’s annual Diwali Milan event, the Chief Minister further thanked the people of Delhi and the media for their support, stating that after 27 years, the BJP government in the capital reflects the public mandate.
She urged citizens to celebrate a “green and proud Diwali” and participate in building a happier and environmentally conscious Delhi.
“I thank you all. It is because of your efforts that BJP has come to power in Delhi after 27 years. The party is deeply grateful to the people of Delhi. We will strive to meet your expectations in governance,” the Chief Minister said.
